If the LORD delights in us

There’s a story in the bible where God tells Moses to send out 12 men to spy on the promised land— to find out if the land was good or bad; if the people were weak or strong.

The overwhelming majority brought back a report of crippling fear and anxiety. Yes, they said, the land is good, overflowing with milk and honey and fruit—but there are giants who could totally destroy us.

This news immediately had the people grumbling and complaining again, saying

“Let us go back to Egypt!”

BUT, two spies spoke up.

Joshua and Caleb said: “If the LORD delights in us, he will bring us into this land and give it to us,

a land that flows with milk and honey.

Only do not rebel against the LORD.

And do not fear the people of the land..”

If the LORD delights in us.

My friend because the LORD delights in us we don’t have to believe the news of fear.

We can trust that his promises will come to pass in our lives.

We can believe that He is always working things out for our good and His glory.

May we be a people who always have eyes to see, ears to hear, and a heart to understand the goodness of our God.

Shalom!
